SOAPOPOLIS

SOAPOPOLIS is an interactive Internet drama like no other. By turns anarchic, disturbing, surreal and hilarious, it takes drama into a new realm. Groups of characters contained within story "lands" are propelled on journeys by the imaginations of the audience. Confounding traditional genre expectations and destroying the boundaries between audience and performer, Soapopolis is like nothing you have ever seen or thought of before. It's everything you ever wanted to see because YOU write it.

The series utilises a large cast, mixing professionals with students and amateurs, and is shot using a green screen virtual backgrounds added in post production - from fantasy styles to realistic sets. In Soapopolis, anything can happen - it's all down to the viewer/contributor - it is not just another web drama - it is uniquely collaborative with its audience, and uniquely unpredictable. The characters can change as fast as the tone which can lurch from horror nightmare to crazed comedy - and everything in between. Characters can be constantly developed alongside new "islands" and thrown together alongside the audience’s own video inserts in a sort of digitised mash-up.

The pilot episode has been completed and received its premiere at Brunel University on May 18th 2011.
